Japanese Tea Ceremony Celebrates Cherry Blossom Festival

WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) ---  The 101st National Cherry Blossom Festival offers locals a viewing of a Japanese Tea Ceremony.

At the Japan Information and Culture Center, a local Japanese tea club shows what it takes to prepare and offer tea to your guests. The preparations are a part of an ancient tradition dating back to feudal times in Japan.

The tea rituals of cleaning the bowl and other acts embody a set of values known as Chado or "the Way of Tea." These values celebrate mental tranquility, purity and harmony.
