If you can talk the talk, you can walk the walk – for the animals | Community Spirit
You’re always telling your friends how much you love your pet, but maybe you’re looking to take a step beyond caring for your dog or cat to supporting all animals across Washington, DC. This September 29, go the extra mile with the Washington Humane Society (WHS) and be a part of the DC Walk for the Animals & Pet-A-Palooza. Join us in celebrating our community’s animals and walking to end pet homelessness in DC.
The DC Walk for the Animals & Pet-A-Palooza, emceed by Dr. Katy Nelson, Host of The Pet Show with Dr. Katy on News Channel 8, is a great event for two- and four-legged friends to help fund programs that benefit the Washington Humane Society. One hundred percent of proceeds stay in the DC metro area to support WHS services and programs including local adoption, spaying/neutering, behavior and training, and humane education. Best of all, the DC Walk for the Animals is an easy way to give back: the walk is a little less than a mile throughout the historic Adams Morgan neighborhood of Washington, DC, making it accessible for animal lovers of all ages.
There are many ways to get involved with the DC Walk for the Animals & Pet-A-Palooza.
When you register online, you have the choice to join the DC Walk for the Animals as an individual or as part of a group – you may consider starting a team where you work or in your neighborhood association or community. Because the minimal registration fee only covers the cost of the event, we are most able to truly help the animals through fundraising. All funds go toward helping animals in the DC community, and every dollar makes a difference. Once you register, you’ll have access to a number of online tools that will show you how fundraising to help WHS can be easy and fun!
But the event is much more than just a walk. The Pet-A-Palooza will be underway beginning at 10 a.m. at the Marie Reed Elementary School (2200 Champlain St. NW) with music, contests for people and their pets, pet adoptions, vendor booths, games, and activities for the whole family. You don’t even have to participate in the Walk to come to the Pet-A-Palooza. It’s a festival for all animal lovers and we’d like to see you there!
