Wow.  I just got back from working out outside…talk about something nourishing for the mind and soul.  Now that the weather is consistently warmer it has been wonderful to work out in the fresh air and amongst nature. 

Walking, running, stretching is a great way to clear the mind…just what the doctor ordered.  My schedule has been extremely busy and although I am good at balancing work and life, the life piece has recently kicked in between a long distance elderly mother, the kids, and the everyday stresses of life.  So what’s the best medicine…exercising out in nature is top on my list!  Natural endorphins are released into your body when you exercise and you feel better…mentally and physically.

So here’s what you can do if you’re feeling stressed and you want to clear your head:

  • Exercise 3-4x per week for ~ 30 minutes
  • Walk or run outdoors
  • Go hiking or for a bike ride
  • If you’re lucky enough to live near the ocean (or any body of water), sit down, take a deep breath and breath in the air and the sea
  • Do deep breathing exercises to eliminate toxins in your body – I suggest reading Andrew Weil’s books, the breathing guru!

So take your mark, get ready, get set, Go!!!!!!!
